Given Up The Ghost

I head off to Harvey Hadden this morning despite the 50m sessions not being on their App or their website. Do I trust their App? No. Do I trust the Leisure Centre enough to just turn up? Well, I’ll have to. I need to train.

I find the pool open as normal and it wasn’t particularly quiet, so perhaps it’s a good job they don’t advertise it.

It’s L’s birthday today for which she wanted me to buy her an entry for the forthcoming Colwick Park 5k race series but she’s not running at the moment. Instead I buy her a new rucksack as her current one has given up the ghost, probably because of the huge amounts of kit she carries in it. Thing is, now that I’ve replaced it she can go back to carrying huge amounts again which probably isn’t very good for her back.

Apparently, her Google home page is wishing her "Happy Birthday", which is really creepy.

Then it’s dog training in the evening.

It’s All Happening

This week the City Council’s lovely Leisure Centre App says the 50m sessions aren’t on this morning. Do I trust the App? No. Do I trust the Leisure Centre enough to just turn up? No. So I don’t.

L does get her swim at John Carroll. Just the five of them, so pretty busy for John Carroll.

Having not got a swim, I do the gym after work instead and then head off to dog training.

Meanwhile Daughter is still shouting at her internet people who haven’t reconnected her yet and she’s getting a tad frustrated with them and also her noisy neighbours. It’s all happening in Mapperley Park.

Oooh Technology

I go for my early morning swim at Harvey Hadden having pre-booked in advance on their App. Oooh technology. L goes separately to John Carroll after her usual amble with the boys.

Daughter emails to says she’s spent her first night in her new flat sharing her bed with a pair of pliers. I wondered where they went. I hope they weren’t too uncomfortable to sleep on.

Yesterday was the London Marathon, which we watched and now we’re pining (a little) to do it next year. Well I’m not really pining much at all but L says I should do it and perhaps I should, one day.

One of our Thunder Run team mates ran it this year and complains of them running out of t-shirts in her size. You’d think, of all races, that the London Marathon would get the t-shirt order right.

Today it is announced that the original Bananarama threesome have reunited and will be touring at the end of the year. I think this means I will get getting tickets.

Tonight I’m up dogging on the hill, a very cold hill.

A Wasted Journey

Talking to someone at work who went to the London Marathon yesterday, it appears that supporting someone in the race is not what it was. You can now get an App that tells you where your favourite person is all the time making seeing them at various points much easier. So painstakingly photocopying the A-Z of London, marking the course on it and then computing all the best tube routes from point to point is perhaps a thing of the past.

The weather has been iffy all day and there is a dogging pitch inspection scheduled for 5:30. Much to my surprise it is given the go ahead but is then cancelled as I drive there amid a massive downpour. I turn around and head back home, in all a forty minute wasted journey that could have been spent in the swimming pool. Swimming is something I need to restart with Leeds Tri coming up in June.

Too late for that now, so I keep the already confused boys in the car and then confuse them even more by heading off to Hargate. This is where we normally go on a Tuesday or a Wednesday but some of our Tuesday sessions have been moved to Mondays to accommodate the owners dressage competitions.

I even get an 8pm session so I’m not home too late.
