The Jury Is Still Out

This morning I head to my parents’ place at Aston-on-Trent and run the 8k into work from there. It was excellent at first but then the old calf started to get very tight about half way through. So not good. L asks if I’m going to come home and instantly withdraw my Peterborough Half Marathon entry? The jury is still out. I will see how the run back is tonight.

Oddly, on the run back, the calf got better as I went along. I had changed my shoes and put long socks on for extra ‘compression’. I don’t know if any of that made any difference.

I’m at my folks’ place because we’re heading off to the match later, where Derby finally break down an ultra-defensive Bournemouth and win 2-0.

Hardcore

L says not to expect her home until late, she has a hardcore session planned tonight. Classes and gym I think. I hope.

I have MD booked in for one of those as well. Hardcore I mean. Dog training is back on, we’re back in the old field. So bang goes the swimming.

Doggo will be doing softcore e.g. a good old bark, a few sniffs, several wees and a dump. Which to him will feel like a hardcore session.

MD is oddly brilliant again and even get praised by the trainer for being ‘up for it’. I’m not sure what’s going on.

On the way home, I rescue L from a violent thunderstorm that they don't actually seem to be having in central Nottingham but that had chased us away from dog training fifteen minutes early.

Spectating

This morning we head down to watch the Nottingham Half. Someone we know is running it, although it may be a long shot to try and spot them. I jog down with MD, whilst L walks down with Doggo.

The chap, from our local leisure centre, is pacing a girlie round in allegedly under two hours. We do see them and the thing is they come round rather leisurely amongst the 2:20 bunch, so it doesn’t look like it’s going to plan.

I then attempt to run back home with MD but the dogs won’t be parted, so I have to go it alone. Not that they like that much either.

I’m back at the opticians again today, yes on a Sunday. That’s amazing enough but even better is that I get an optician who seems to understand what I’m talking about. Now if only I can get this chap again next time. He’s given me some lenses I can actually see though but, yes, I’ve still got to go back again in a fortnight.

The evening is spending finding out just how many DVD’s our family have managed to accumulate over the past ten years or so as we have a bit of a sort out. We now have a whole cupboard full of them as I daren’t throw any away.

L turns her hand to plastering which is very brave, it's something I along with most people have failed to have the guts to do. She’s done all the training, on youtube.

Barrow Painting

Tonight we head into Nottingham and then get the train out to the nightspot of Barrow upon Soar, to see what needs painting red. It’ll be a wild night out, as long as we’re done before the last train home departs at 9:45pm. We compensate for this be starting at 6pm. Hopefully this gives our local tour guides enough time to show us all the local delights.

Most seem to be ok. The Hunting Lodge (Adnams Broadside), Navigation (Old Peculiar), The Boat House (Camerons Strongarm) and the Soar Bridge Inn (Everards Old Original) before we end up back the Navigation for an OP nightcap. A good night out.
