All Is Well With The World

Doggo ate his breakfast, L made it to the pool. All is well with the world.

I’m the car, doing the shopping and then going to the match where Derby suffer a rare defeat 1-0 to Ipswich. They should have won but their opponents scored early and then sat on it all game. My Dad and I drown our sorrows in the Harrington afterwards.

Back home it’s a DIDS night. Dogs In Door Shut. I believe there was some opposition to that suggestion which got him locked out. All I’m hoping for is no dramatics from Doggo this week.

Dishevelled

I’m in the car today because I have agreed to help sort out our storage container at dog training because those who unloaded the stuff from our show have left it all a little dishevelled. Not their fault, as they were merely doing the transporting for us, but we need all the show things to be put right at the back until they are needed again for next year otherwise the training equipment won’t be accessible.

I scoot out of work a little early to beat the traffic and then after spending an hour or so there head to my parents to meet my Dad for tonight’s football match. It’s a League Cup 1st Round tie with Grimsby Town and as I’m missing the next home league game I thought I best take this one in. It’s just my Dad and me, my Mum opts out as she usually does midweek.

The Rams scape a 1-0 win but are again far from convincing. We have a quick debrief pint in the Harrington afterwards.

Glowing With Smug

Apparently I have competition. My occasional (when I don’t see him first), self-appointed, personal trainer is apparently now doing the half marathon on Sunday after previously announcing he was giving away his number. My spies saw him training on the dreadmill this morning and believe he has said he's aiming for two and a half hours. L says they all say that. Well, she normally says three hours.

I’m delighted for him and now we can run together. I’m aiming for two and a half hours as well. L promises to throw bottles at us from Triumph Road. She’s thoughtful like that.

She's also feeling very smug, practically glowing with smug having done a brick session. That must have involved a bike.

Tonight the much derided match forcibly relocated from Saturday. Subsequently attendance is about 5k down on what you would expect. Despite being 0-0 it’s a good close game that Derby would maybe have won had we had a manager who is a bit more prepared to take risks. He’s still new, so perhaps he’ll become more daring in time.

The joy of Monday’s is that our usual post match haunt, The Harrington in Elvaston doesn’t open. We visit Aston’s Malt Shovel and celebrate my Dad’s Birthday with a couple of drinks.
