The Secret Room

I get the bus and end up late for work as the A52 is down to one lane due to a breakdown.

I wish L Happy Birthday, seven months early, by telling her with have tickets for Tears For Fears at the NIA and it would appear they are quite near the front as well. Naturally that’s not enough and she asks if she can upgrade to a full weekend in Birmingham. She best speak to the dog sitter. I’m guessing she’ll be trying to negotiate a parkrun onto the agenda next.

I visit my Mum again after work and L comes over later with the dogs. Not that they get to visit. My Dad get charged £25 parking for his overnight stay last night but apparently there is some secret room somewhere where he can claim it back.

Rome Wasn’t Built In A Day

Day 12

I take the bus in the interest of leg resting. On the other hand, L is ecstatic to make the gym and to chat with people who aren't builders. This inspires her for an agenda of exercise exercise exercise over the weekend.

However when I offer to take her on a nice bike ride on Saturday afternoon she recoils in horror at my use of the words ‘nice’ and ‘bike ride’ in the same sentence. I’m just trying to help out but she says she’ll stick with the gym.

It would be nice to do something together but then we can always do pairs Pilates on the wobble board tonight.

I again got for a lunchtime shower at the Velodrome because...

Later our plumber extraordinaire tells me that the shower is now in, working and we can use it... but do we believe him. We decide to defer its use until Sunday to make sure that anything that needs to have set is set.

The toilet has arrived but it’s at the shop so he’s got to go and fetch it... We are assured that everything will definitely be finished by the end of Tuesday... I’m spotting a pattern here. Rome wasn’t built in a day apparently.

As I speak to him I ask him if he was just about to finish for the day. There was a long silence, a bit of umming and ahhing, and then he said not quite yet. So I assume that was a yes. It's 2:30pm.

Oh well, never mind, it’s Friday night or it will be when us normal people finish work at 5pm.

Unopposed

Today is the dog club's AGM, which went well despite a low turnout which we put down to a very unconfrontational agenda. I had to make a small speech, which I kept very very small. I was also voted back in as secretary, unopposed. Damn.

While I’m there L takes herself off cycling at the velodrome, on the Watt Bikes naturally not on that wooden stuff.

The Power Is On

I get to work to find that the building seems to still be in one piece. I expected to find the place resembling a bomb site but the electrician has got everything sorted and has even put the floor back down. In fact you can’t even tell he’s been here. The power is on.

Tonight’s dogging is again off, so I’m not missing anything as I head to a committee meeting. There’s a lot on the agenda and predictably it’s not a short meeting.
