Two Men, No Dog

Apart from our, so far failed, plan to get an electrician in I’m also intending to get a plumber in to sort out our constantly failing boiler. They are coming around at 8:30 this morning, so I take over the speed walking of the dogs this morning and do that before they arrive.

They were very good. They seemed to know what they were talking about and were very thorough but as I suspected it’s a big job. We need a major re-piping job as well as new boiler. Sceptical as ever, L questions there credentials, such as if it was just a one man and his dog outfit.

Nope. Two guys, no dog, they even have their own van and lots of positive comments on MyBuilder.com, which would have taken a gargantuan amount of time if they’ve written them all themselves. I said I’d let them know but I suppose it has to be done. Can we afford it? Of course not.

It’s dog training tonight and I’ve already had a couple of texts asking whether the Lad’s at training tonight. He's such a charmer.

There is no squash again on Thursday, my opponent seems to be getting more ill rather than better. I do manage to get a cycle in though. Lunch is in the Yard on Pride Park where apparently they start doing pizzas from next week.

Gargantuan Misselling

It’s wet and windy, so I’m in car. The roads are hell.

Daughter’s laptop is having problems installing the latest gargantuan Windows 10 update, which seems to need almost as much space as the operating system itself. Her modestly sized laptop just can’t handle it, even after having deleted everything but the operating system off it.

I reckon this counts as a case of misselling but Acer, who made it, don’t agree but only because they didn’t sell it to us. Tesco did. Talk about ducking the bullets. Now I just need to try and find the receipt from Tesco.

Talking of misselling, L goes out and buys some Mellow Birds. I warned her not but she still went ahead and got some. This is the product that they missold as coffee back in the 1970s. The advertising campaign promised that it would make us smile but it was more of a grimace really. It was what you served guests when you don’t want them to visit again.

L says it was hidden down on a bottom shelf with the Camp. Which says it all, they can’t put either of those with the coffee because neither of them have ever been anywhere near a coffee bean. Rumour has it that they are still selling off old stock from the 70s. Bet she can’t drink a whole mug of it.

Squash tonight, L and MD walk there. Then both dogs join us in the pub afterwards.

Grounds For Divorce

I again bike to work, so I’m really packing the training in this week. I suppose some would say it's a bit late.

The Triathlon organisers have now put up a shorten summary of their gargantuan Race Guide which has reduced their original waffle down from forty-one pages to just eight. Much better, well sort of.

It appears that registration is in the city centre near T2, so we need to go there first to register. Then we need to drive to the swim start at Roundhay Park for the practice swim which is 2pm-4pm and to set up T1 at Roundhay, which is open from 2pm-8pm. Then we have to drive all the way back to registration and set up T2 because this also doesn’t open until 2pm, so we can't do it on our first trip because we need to be at the swim at that time. I’m sure all will become clear on Saturday.

L comes home with a white toasting loaf under her arm which she admits is grounds for divorce. Predictably the bread turns out to be waxy, fake tasting and not particularly chunky. She doesn’t like it.

She’s tempted to chuck it out for the birds but then the dogs will eat it and get fat. Alternatively it’s so waxy she’s considering shoving it in a candle holder and trying to light it. Sounds like a plan.
