No Joy For Bonnie

We’re at one of the many many dog shows this year at Catton Hall today. We start off with a good run and an impressive 4th place for MD. So we just missed the top three and the trophies again. It wasn’t really his sort of course either.

Unfortunately it’s all downhill from there. A scrappy clear, a five faults and an elimination in his other three runs.

Then it’s about three hours of hanging around for Doggo’s one event. His veterans’ class is the last one of the day to run. He’s clear but just misses the rosettes.

L ventures up to Parkrun at Forest Fields, running there and back as well as doing the 5k run. She says she needs to get fit. If she says that one more time...

In the evening, we stay in with Eurovision and only the odd glass of beer/wine. Another race tomorrow but not too serious a one.

As expected there's no joy for Bonnie but if you were sat on a sofa in Azerbaijan and couldn't make your mind up on the music alone, would you vote for the 61 year old Welsh woman or 20 year old Danish totty Emmelie de Forest? Just asking... Personally I think there's something seriously wrong with our selection process.

St. Dwynwen's Day

L goes into work early, so I walk the boys. It’s always a pleasure and they seemed to enjoy their walk, particularly Doggo. He does love his off lead down the grass verges. The snow is still quite nice along there. We even saw a couple of dogs for MD to bark at.

The forecast says we’re going to get quite a bit of snow this evening. How this will affect the dog show or the match tomorrow I don’t know.

Today is St. Dwynwen's Day, the Welsh Valentine’s Day. So Happy St. Dwynwen's. We really ought to do something Welsh tonight.

Dwynwen was a 5th century princess who was forbidden to marry her true love. So she begged God to cool her love for the unobtainable one and God did but as a nasty side effect her true love was so cooled that he turned into a block of ice. It's usually the other way around isn't it.

The picture isn't the usual one you see of Dwynwen but I sort of liked it.

Rather confusingly it’s also Burns Night. So perhaps a Welsh meal washed down with whisky is in order. In the end our Friday night in is accompanied by a rather inappropriate Chinese Take Away. So much for tradition.

For Sale Signs, Traffic Cones And Advertising Hoardings

Unlike our teenagers, in Queensland, Australia they don’t bring home For Sale signs, traffic cones and advertising hoardings (I speak from recent experience), they bring home penguins. Oh hang on, they were Welsh.

Squash tonight, for a change on a Tuesday but without replicating last week’s late shift. The result isn’t any better though.

For some reason the pub’s TVs are all blacked out. Have they not paid their Sky subscription? So the place is really quiet, nicely quiet as it happens, as everyone goes elsewhere to watch those little old underdogs Chelsea take on and beat Barcelona. Didn’t they do well once they got rid of that John Terry guy!
