At Fault

My legs seem fine after last night’s hairy adventures which is a good job as I’m in Worcester today for a dog show.

We have a nice clear round to start off the day despite MD looking like he’s not really woken up yet. To be fair, although he was a bit sluggish at first, he did seem to have woken up by jump number four.

It was also going well on our second run until he inexplicably missed out a jump, his fault I think, and our third run was going equally well until I miss queued the tunnel, my fault I think.

Back home L is still in bed probably because she can’t move after all her efforts yesterday. Although she claims she is actually enthused and planning her race diary.

We miss a contact on our last run, probably his fault... so we head off home, stopping off at Aston to see my folks on the way.

In the evening we do a grand tour of Beeston’s two micro pubs, Pottle Of Blues and Totally Tapped.

Not At One’s Best

I am perhaps a touch unwell today but that doesn’t stop me driving all the way to Worcester for a dog show with L and the boys in tow. My body does seem to be deteriorate while we’re there and I get us eliminated on our first jumping course. However, I don’t feel MD can blame my poor health on the fact he jumps off the dog walk on both his agility courses.

In an attempt to salvage something from the day we both make a herculean effort on our last course, a rather testing and irritating affair with nine tunnels in it. We nail it and go clear although I am close to requiring mouth to mouth resuscitation at the end, that no one offers. Which is probably wise given my pasty appearance and sadly after all that effort we are outside the rosettes.

To her immense surprise, I let L drive home where I am in bed by 8.30pm, which is the first time I’ve been in bed that early for the sole purpose of sleep since I was seven years old.

Pre-race Treat

Another dog show, another Parkrun. I drop L somewhere near Worcester for her run and then head off to somewhere near Worcester for the dog show. One day I might even see Worcester.

MD gets a 10th place rosette today, again against higher graded dogs. That’s not bad but what was better were the two pacey runs he did after that. These would have got us podium places had he not clipped a pole on both. He’s looking good though.

AF tonight and my apple crumble finally arrives as a pre-race treat. If I can manage to sleep it off, I may be able to run in the morning.

An Apple A Day

L reverts to WAG duties and accompanies us to a dog show in Worcester. MD opens the day with a shocker of a run and I wonder if we should head off home now to save further embarrassment.

Of course he’s paw perfect in the next one, a run that nets us 3rd place and an apple shaped trophy. I guess we’re in cider country. His next run is almost as good but he fells a pole. Doggo is clear too.

We stay in with the football, well I do. L snoozes with her book on her lap.

Too Much Ball

A bit of a long trek to Worcester today for a dog show. Doggo starts the day off and goes clear. Now to ruin the day and get MD out of the car.

Somehow I get a clear round out of him. It wasn’t quick, it wasn’t pretty and we’re unlikely to get a rosette for it but at least it was clear. He seems tired for some reason, too much ball yesterday I think.

MD isn’t the only one who isn’t quick, my own sprinting isn’t impressive but I can do a mean steady hobble. So all set for tomorrow’s half marathon then.

After a pole down in his second run, his third is another clear. Blimey, two in one day. Sadly we knock poles and mess up the weaves in his last run.

Back home L has cooked naff sausages in anticipation of a rosette. It’s a good job they’re naff ones because we’re only 5th. A rosette is a rosette though and we get another one for 14th in the earlier class where I didn’t think we’d be placed. Makes it look like we did alright after all.
