Blinding

As MD is in such blinding form at the moment I have booked a show today in far off Richmond. That’s the Yorkshire Richmond. Well, he’s blinding when it goes right less so when it doesn’t. We have six runs today so hopefully one of them might be blinding.

First though, of course, a parkrun. I drop L at the nearest which is in Northallerton, it’s about a ten mile detour but I have a girl on a mission. It means an early start but leaving home at 5.45am is adequate.

MD goes clear in his first agility run and comes 5th, so not a bad start. His second run was even better until... he leapt off the dog walk as if it was on fire, thereby missing the vital contact point. L asks if the judge spotted it. I think so, as it was probably visible from Mars. Then I hauled him back to do it properly which got us eliminated. Sadly it was our sort of course and a top placing was clearly possible.

After her run, L gets the bus to Richmond itself and then attempts to run to us at the Equestrian Centre. She gets lost, so we drive off to pick her up and get lost as well. What a pair... Eventually we find each other.

In MD’s other runs, minor errors cost us in three of them but on the fourth we get beautiful clear round on a difficult course. We win this by half a second. Hurrah. Win number one of three required to go up to Grade 6. The Champ and I will be on cordial terms this evening.

We head home for a night in. Leicester Half tomorrow.

The Power Of The Chinese Takeaway

My colleagues at work are not overly impressed by my efforts yesterday e.g. ‘only 50 miles, wimp’. Not that they did anything spectacular over the weekend themselves.

L reveals that Saturday's Parkrun was her new PB by 10 seconds which just goes to show the power of a Friday night and also more probably the energy boasting power of the humble Chinese takeaway. She or parkrun have kept this quiet for two days though, we could have been celebrating.

L has nothing to do at work so instead works out her annual booze intake, the volume of which she blames on the hedonism of Paris, Switzerland, Glastonbury and Scotland. Which does make us sound quite globetrottingly hedonistic and I’m sure excuses the numbers.

Possibly The Last Time

I chauffeur L to her Parkrun at Forest Rec, chuck a few balls and then join her for a coffee.

Then it’s the match. Another win for Derby as they dismiss Bolton Wanderers 4-1. The big one, going head to head with league leaders Bournemouth, now looms large on Tuesday.

L changes the sheets on our bed for possibly the last time. She seems more hopeful than me that all these delivers will go to plan and everything will show up next week. Then she’ll be moving upstairs, she might even take me with her.

Saturday night out is spent in the Falcon, the Borlase and finally the Blue Monkey.

Christmas Tapas

L considers a Christmas morning parkrun but I think in the end my company proves more appealing. It means I have to take the dogs on the park though.

At noon, we head off to meet my parents at the Horse and Jockey. We check their live online beer list but it does not seem to have been updated for Christmas Day. Slackers.

We leave Daughter at home to look after the duck. We get a little concerned at my parents lateness but they struggle to park. There isn’t any basically.

Back at our place we again have Spanish meats for starter tapas style, then our roast duck and Christmas pud. Then we watch our one bit of Christmas TV with Arthur Christmas.
