Eating At The Hard Rock

As I cycle to work it is with one eye almost permanently on the sky, so convinced am I that it was about to rain on me but it didn’t. The weather is about as decisive as a British political party.

L's sister’s family are in New York City and L seems a touch jealous. Seemingly the long weekend in a muddy field in Cumbria didn't compare. I’m sure our summer sojourn to the Orkneys will be far more exciting. We'll be eating at some hard rock rather than at the Hard Rock Café.

I’m not sure what the New York City equivalent of the RousayLap is but I’m sure there’s something and obviously we’d have to enter if there was.

Last year a mere 72 cyclists, 16 runners, 10 walkers and a motorised scooter did the Rousay Lap. L seems quite excited at the prospect of being the first person to crawl it or she could do it with MD while I push Doggo round in a wheelbarrow.

The sun comes out for the cycle home, yep as decisive as a British political party, then I head over to dog training.

Second-hand Experience

On the bike today and it’s a cold but exceedingly awesome ride. Even better news is that L swims and manages to get in and out of the pool like a normal person.

Pero the Sheepdog walks 240 miles home from Cumbria to Ceredigion, Mid Wales in 12 days. He may have thumbed a lift of course, I’m sure our two would have. It would have certainly took them longer to cover the distance on foot what with all the sniffing and weeing.

L's boss has joined Slimming World. Am I the only person left who hasn’t been to Slimming World? Although I suppose I do have plenty of second-hand experience of it.

L and her Ironwoman friend have been debating whether it's best to be trained but injured or undertrained. Now there’s a question, which I ponder as I strap my leg up and get ready for a wet ride home.

A Bit Girlie

Cumbria continues to flood, the Langdale 10k was cancelled and people are being rescued from their bedroom windows in Kendal. I keep checking the photos on the various news sites to see if our cottage is underwater. Luckily we have Morrisons across the road who I think would be straight on the case if anything happened. Fingers crossed. Not sure we could have managed to pitch the tent had we gone up for the 10k.

The Notts Bike Ride have had a rebrand. They seem to have accepted the fact that anything under 30 miles is by definition a bit girlie by renaming the 25 miler as the Maid Marian.

Christmas of course means loads of curries and L kicks the ball off tonight with her running pals at the Rajni in Borrowash.

I decline an offer to join them, which is a good job actually as dogging is surprisingly on. The little Tyke needs it and he may well get three sessions this week.
