In A Ditch

My rear tyre is flat when I get the bike out of the shed this morning but when I pump it up again it appears to want to stay inflated. Hmmm, dilemma. Will it stay up?

I give it a go and it makes it over half the way to work. It lasted until Borrowash and then I tried to fix it but neither of my spare tubes would inflate. I even borrowed someone else’s pump, thinking there was something wrong with mine but still no good. There must be a nail or something in the tyre or the rim but I can’t see anything. I ride to work on one wheel.

L will think I was in a ditch somewhere. Well, I was. Bike upside down in a ditch with me trying to fix it.

I get the bus home after work and we pick the bike up on the way to this evening’s dog class. Afterwards L and I meet up as usual for one in the Mason’s.

Today is the first day I’ve used the car since Leap Year Day and the really big news is that the car has got its day back. The clock is correct for the first time in four years.

A Whole Plethora Of Injuries

The end of the cycling/running/triathlon season combined with a whole plethora of injuries does have its advantages I suppose. Saturday nights out and free Sundays.

These have to include the obligatory park session with the boys of course. Then as L hits the gym and goes shopping, I get to re-felt shed room. Joy... but necessary. To think I missed out and going underwear shopping with L for that. Sigh.

Then I cut grass for the last time this year. Yes it’s a bit late perhaps but the weather has been so foul. The council of course has long since stopped collecting garden waste so in the normal bin it goes, they only have themselves to blame.

A Deserving Home

Next door have removed everything living from their front garden, today they start on the back and include our apple tree in their purge. At least we get it trimmed, even if it is a rather drastic one.

Inspired by this and by the Freecycling of our excess bikes we clear out the shed.
All before we go visit Son in Leamington. Where everything bar Wetherspoons and our regular haunt the White Horse is either shut or not serving food. So we go for a curry at a place called the Hot Rock, which is very good.

We have sifted through the Freecycle replies and attempted to filter out the ones who only seem intent on getting the bikes so that they can immediately put them up on ebay. We’d like them to go to a deserving home if possible.

Having selected recipients we leave all three bikes out for collection and one person turns up just as we’re leaving. They take the wrong bike, so we have our doubts whether the other two will go but they’re both gone by the time we get back from Leamington.

Not Pretty

In the middle of the night I fall over and bang my head, quite badly. L says I was drunk, personally I think I just had one of my famous fainting fits but either way, the damage is the same and not pretty.

It doesn’t stop the boys getting another killer park session, or the hedge getting cut or L getting to visit a couple of bike shops.

One thing that doesn’t happen is the Northampton Half Marathon but that has nothing to do with the head wound and everything to do with the ankle I injured on Wednesday.

As a temporary measure, and perhaps as a permanent everyday use one, we get L’s old racer out of the shed. This was second hand when she got it and has the old style gear levers on the frame. Still it's got previous, she’s done a few triathlons on it.
