Cometh The Day, Cometh The 70th Length

In the car again because today is swim day. Although even being in the car isn’t going to ensure my legs are fresh as they’re still a bit shredded from Sunday. It's the first of April, some would call it April Fools Day, I call it 'upping swimming to 70 lengths' day. Cometh the day, cometh the 70th length. Only 8 short now of full half-arsed Ironman.

In fact I manage 71 lengths, so says my watch. I know it’s at least one out but hopefully it's miscounted rather than added one.

My opponent has already cancelled squash again for this week, so that gives me chance to do a bit more shredding this week. I can probably fit in three bike rides now, Wednesday through to Friday.

Bicep Strengthening

I run at lunchtime, again doing 5.57km in 27:14. L also runs today. Proving she’s clearly as fit as she looks and not as unfit as she thinks she is.

With hindsight my own run was probably a bad idea as I now have a tight calf ahead of my swim tonight. So I could be using the pull buoy to float my legs for the entire 61 lengths or however many my watch decides I’ve done.

All that bicep strengthening in the water will be good for the ball chucking to come later on. Then again you’d think all the ball chucking would be good bicep strengthening for swimming? Although as I only use one arm to ball chuck, this may explain my inability to keep to a straight line in the water.

Improvements

The legs don’t ache too much after yesterday’s race so perhaps things are improving. They need to, as I keep being reminded it's 13 weeks to my big event. It’s also only 5 days to my mini-big event.

Dog training is still on hold so I’m back at the pool doing 59 lengths, so says my swim watch. We’ll call it 60 shall we, as I didn’t get out in the deep end. It may have skipped more than one length... so hopefully I did even more.

L is out running and then dining afterwards at the Royal Oak in Oakbrook. I pop over later to pick her up and sample the beer for her.
