Almost Getting Boring

I’m in the car today with no swimming due a very tired pair of legs.

Doggo eats after an initial refusal when L accidentally drops half a hard boiled egg into his food. Quirky dog.

There are lots of emails flying around as regards my London project today. Finally it’s confirmed that I will definitely be in London tomorrow just for the day and then again next Tuesday.

Talking of London, those nice London Marathon people (the ones who refuse to let us know whether we are in or not until October) email pushing the London Marathon of swimming.  Which presumably isn’t quite as long.

It's a dog club committee meeting tonight and again there are no fights. The meetings are almost getting boring.

Latest Wheeze

Doggo latest wheeze is to fill up on deer poo on his morning walk to the extent that he doesn’t want his breakfast. I could put this down to his 'age' but to be honest nothing has ever surprised me with that dog.

The weather is foul today so it’s no surprise that dog training is off. Instead I shall for a... wait for it... swim. That is once I’ve carefully checked that the kit I picked up this morning is actually for swimming in. Picking up the wrong kit is a mistake I’ve often made.

L is also at John Carroll in the gym doing a full blown keep-me-out-of-the-fridge session so I offer her a lift back. The only problem is that the traffic is so bad I don't even get there until fifteen minutes before I’m supposes to meet her. So it's a very quick thirty lengths (which should have been forty) before meeting L about fifteen minutes late.

It’s all a rush and there were some very interesting outfits in the pool, that were not immediately obvious what was holding them in place but I simply never got chance to look into the technicalities of it all.

Forty Winks (Unless You're Adam Peaty)

I consider whether, after last night’s escapades on the track, anyone would mind or even notice if I spent the morning asleep under my desk. Perhaps just best to play safe and take forty winks in my chair as usual.

L is also knackered after a morning of swimming and Pilates. She complains that she’s having as much trouble staying awake as she does after a manic weekend. Is there such a thing as a weekend that isn’t manic? As I recall, apart from this morning her weekend included two runs, a gym session and another dose of Pilates.

The Rio Olympics are now in full flow and we have it on basically 24/7 both at work and at home. Not much chance of many early nights in the next fortnight.

Dog training is cancelled tonight due to lack of interest. A bit like my fellow cyclists last night although there were just enough of them to inflict the pain on me. So I swim instead, doing 40 lengths in a packed pool. Suddenly everyone thinks they’re Adam Peaty.

Border Controls

On the bike today and it didn’t rain on me. Novelty.

It does rain later but we manage to swim to the pub for lunch and more Black Jack. If it doesn’t stop raining soon, I'll be swimming home as well. Thankfully it does ease and even a bit of sun makes an appearance.

L gets home to find the stair gate open again. Doggo is curled up asleep on his mat downstairs while MD was apparently just coming down the stairs. I don’t know whether to be annoyed with that dog or pleased at his resourcefulness.

Dogging tonight and I give L a lift to Mickleover to visit her folks. We consider taking our passports in case they have already set up border controls to get into the extremist shires post-Brexit.

Perhaps this is why training is very sparsely attended, so I take part in a double session to keep numbers up. Then I meet L in the Masons where faced with the same beer selection again, just to be different, I have the Bass.
