Finally In The Bag

.

Today, ta da, it's finally L’s 100th parkrun. Most likely against doctor’s orders but now it’s finally in the bag. Bravo. Now she can get herself a new T-shirt.

The big event comes at Beeston as Daughter continues her tourism. L runs with her while I run with MD. We’ve only done Beeston once before and now I remember why we haven’t been back. It’s so damn narrow that MD and I get stuck at the back and are unable to overtake. I find it very frustrating but MD likes it when we don’t go too fast.

There are now two coffee shops near the Beeston Parkrun so we try the new one and it’s very pleasant although I think most people stick to the one they know which is good because there’s no queues at ours.

Dogging Injury

My dogging injury doesn’t prevent me getting on the bike today.

There is an exciting announcement from the Nottingham Half... drum roll… a T-Shirt. About time! This however throws into doubt whether going VIP will still be worth it or not.

It’s National Wine Day today, although I’m not sure which bright spark picked a Thursday but then we do always start our weekend on a Thursday. As I’m sure everybody does.

Suddenly it is hot. I have a sweaty bike home and then we have to cope with the prospect of a distinct lack of rain for tennis. It will be very disconcerting if the ball actually bounces.

Amazingly I get the last available court. Where were they all last week, some of us played through the light shower.

For the after match drinks, L is again thwarted by trams which are not running through town because one has been derailed. So she doesn’t make it to the pub at all this week.

A Bit Of Table

I collect L’s Derby 10k race number and t-shirt from the stadium. I think the t-shirt is exactly the same as last year’s design but in charcoal grey. How practical, it matches the dog and won’t show the hairs or the mud.

After work I do a short brick session in the gym before heading home to put something hot on the table for L when she returns from her literary evening and to prevent Doggo licking it. He does like a bit of table.

Talking of literary evenings, L has just arranged a naughty night out with an author e.g. it’ll be wine, cake and books. She says I’ll have to send her out handcuffed. Hmmm, an intriguing thought. It would certainly cause a stir. She should never jest about such things.

The Smell Of Burning

Another wet and cold morning, so another day on the bus. Warmed by lunch in the Brunswick.

Back home L is in celebratory mood. Her 50th parkrun t-shirt has arrived.

I have dogging this evening but with no pub detour to meet L this week. Instead she says she’ll be snoring away somewhere at home. Possibly in front of the oven as she’s baking tonight.

There is no smell of burning as I arrive home, so she seems to have managed to stay conscious.

Still No T-Shirt

Today I do my ‘home’ parkrun for the first time. This is at Colwick Park as when I first joined parkrun that was the only one in Nottingham but I’ve never ran it. In fact it was several years before I ran any of them.

This is run number five but apparently you don’t get a t-shirt for that. MD runs with me and is so knackered afterwards I don’t have to chuck a ball all day.
