I keep nagging L about doing her physio routine and she does
get in her exercises and rolling in this morning. Apparently Doggo sat patiently
and watched, which is a first as he usually gets overexcited and joins in. I
sympathise with him as it has the same effect on me but apparently MD just stayed downstairs
and howled. I bet Jess Ennis never had these problems.
Daughter’s interview folder turns up as L revisits the café where a different chap discloses that he had found it and had put it on one side.
Bravo.
I go shopping and expect to be crushed in the great iceberg lettuce
stampede, what with Tesco rationing customers to just three per visit. Seriously
who buys three lettuces in one go? The stampede is oddly absent.
L’s out on the lash tonight having a curry in Ockbrook
although I think she is secretly jealous of me being left alone in the house with
the fresh crusty loaf. She needn’t worry, I will be taking undue advantage of
it. She asks me to pick her up at 8.30, it’s just a small Monday night sort of
lash.
Before then I do one
of them swim things, which I ought to be doing more of. I do 40 lengths of the pool but
share a lane with three women, all of whom are faster than me so it’s not a
relaxed session. The pool itself is rammed but then only half the pool is open to
the public as two people are having lessons in the other half. I would have
thought it would be more viable to have scheduled these at a quieter time
perhaps?

Excuses
L’s having a tough day, working with two people whose memory
isn’t as good as it once was and then she has to come home to a couple of oldies like
Doggo and I. No wonder she says she finds it hard to walk past Tesco and not
dive into the chocolate display. She won’t be AF tonight then.
We drive over to the Masons in Mickleover. Stopping over on
the way to do dog training and visit her folks. I do the former, she does the latter.
By the time I get to the pub, L is on her third glass of
wine having arrived early to meet a friend. Well that’s her excuse anyway.

The Pilates Instructor’s Balls
Back home I catch L in the bedroom running her foot across
the Pilates instructor’s balls. We really must get a better name for them. The instructor,
the one who doubles as the pub singer at the Navigation pub, has given her this
gadget made of dog balls for massaging her ankle. Don’t know if it works or
not but the boys keep eyeing it up. No doubt one of them will be bringing it to
us to throw before too long.
Dog training tonight but no L, so no pub. I really hope the
Masons doesn't go bust at this difficult time of the year without our support.
We have been doing our bit but you can't be too careful where Tesco takeovers
are concerned.

Double Casserole Thursday
It’s MOT and service time for the car which is never a good
time. However, oddly this year, they haven’t managed to find anything wrong
with the car that I didn’t already know about.
At home, Doggo thinks he’s being poisoned. I put a couple of
tiny worming tablets in his bowl three days ago and he found one of them. Ever
since he's had to examine every morsel of food by chucking it on the floor and
sniffing it from every angle. It is customary to drag him back to his bowl at
least three times before either he finishes or we get bored waiting. It worst
for MD, who is patiently waiting for any leftovers. It would be nice if we
could all get away with this sort of behaviour when we’re his age.
The new 50 Shades book 'Grey: Fifty Shades of Grey as told by Christian' is out and it looks even more comical
than the original but it’s proven so popular that there are queues coming out
of Tesco. These women and their sex books, they should just get to grips with
the real thing.
The tennis season is on a break already, after one week, as
the centre is shut for tournaments. So it’s back to hot sweaty squash and a
pint at the Navigation. L runs to us.
It’s not Faux Friday today (sadly) but it is double
casserole Thursday. One at the pub at lunchtime, one more in the evening.
