A Full House

On the bike again.

L’s diagnosis is that she has a disc protrusion at L5/S1 pressing on the S1 nerve. Whatever that all means...

She’s told there’s to be no running and nothing too strenuous in the gym either. It should clear up of its own accord, if she’s sensible with it. Apparently, the best treatment would be a fortnight lying on her back in the sun with a book and several glasses of wine.

It's dog training tonight and then the pub afterwards where the beers are a near identikit dullness of Bass, Pedigree, Speckled Hen and Harvest Pale.

You see Bass is now brewed by Marstons who also make Pedigree, some say in the same vessel... While Old Speckled Hen was Greene King’s attempt to copy Pedigree... Only Harvest Pale is different but still hardly exciting.

I’m not suggesting it but if they’d had Doom Bar or Bombardier instead then they could have won a prize for a full house.

Tips For Improvements

On the bike again today, only in drier conditions, and then lunchtime is spent in the Brunswick.

It’s dogging in the evening and then on to the Masons to meet L where tonight’s exciting guest beer is Harvest Pale. Ugh. I think I’ll go with the Bass this week.

It’s always late when I arrive at the pub, around 10:45, but I’m extra late this evening as the A516 is blocked by an accident so I have to do a long detour onto the A38 to get around it. Thankfully the pub is still open when I get there, just.

My trainer films MD’s training runs tonight, I assumed because she was impressed by them but that is not quite the case. She emails me the films along with some tips for improvements.

Pfffft

Day 17

I text the builder to tell him the shower still isn’t hot enough. He replies quickly giving the illusion that he’s on the job as we communicate. Hopefully he is. He also says the toilet will be in for Friday although he does say which Friday.

I manage to cycle and L manages to swim. L says that no one at the pool asks how she is any more, it’s just

‘Good morning, how’s your bathroom?’

Erm, unfinished.

Then its dog training followed by a pint with L in the Masons where Wainwright is the guest beer yet again. L says be a daredevil... they have Bass, Pedigree or Old Speckled Hen. Pfffft Wainwright please.

Awesomes In A Row

L queries why today’s cycle into work was only ‘very good’ while yesterday’s was ‘awesome’. Sadly my old body can’t quite manage two awesomes in a row, well not in everything.

Would you believe that according to the Chilcott Report Tony Blair misled us and took us into war knowing that he was lying through his teeth about Iraq having Weapons of Mass Destruction? That’s a shock, not. Even the dogs knew that.

L heads over to Mickleover to visit first a friend, then her parents before ending up as usual in the Masons where she’ll get the Bass in for me. Déjà vu. Yes, sadly it’s the same beer selection again.
