Moral Dilemma

Finally, I’m on the bike. Then later it’s dog training but without the pub afterwards as L cancels in order to quarantine her germs at home.

This creates quite a moral dilemma, namely what to do with the chicken ‘Shepherds’ pie that L has made to take over to her parents, I believe we have no mince in the house. Well, I suppose it has to be eaten although obviously it is a bit non-standard but after a very wet bike home anything hot is very welcome.

It’s odd afterwards with no L, no pub and no pint of Wainwrights to look forward to . Who else are they going to find to drink it for them?

The Least Worst Candidate

Today is a day of firsts.

Well obviously there’s Mr Trump but then there’s Nottingham having an ice bar. Only £12.50 including a prosecco but get in quick before Italy stop us importing it.

There’s also the fact that we now have new chic black soap dish to go with the new chic black tooth mug and the new chic black bathmats in our new chic bathroom. Not sure Donald would approve though.

Then there’s the Masons finally kicking out the Wainwrights and putting Adnams Ghost Ship on for my post-dogging pint. Wow, I’ll have one of those. Although with their limited bar choices it is a bit like an American election, where you have to try to pick the least worst candidate.

I think I may have got my choice right.

Pfffft

Day 17

I text the builder to tell him the shower still isn’t hot enough. He replies quickly giving the illusion that he’s on the job as we communicate. Hopefully he is. He also says the toilet will be in for Friday although he does say which Friday.

I manage to cycle and L manages to swim. L says that no one at the pool asks how she is any more, it’s just

Good morning, how’s your bathroom?

Erm, unfinished.

Then its dog training followed by a pint with L in the Masons where Wainwright is the guest beer yet again. L says be a daredevil... they have Bass, Pedigree or Old Speckled Hen. Pfffft Wainwright please.

Bathroom Project Day 3 (Progress Report)

The bath and sink have gone, so it’s a strip wash in the kitchen then before getting on the bike to work. The workman rings, he’s running a bit late... again. He doesn’t like starting early.

Today they are doing the ceiling. I think that’s because after yesterday’s flood it’s the only bit that’s dry enough to work on. Then, suddenly, we have no central heating. So we blame the workmen naturally but apparently that’s not the case and the thermostat is bust. Good job it’s not cold. Although I think L disagrees.

She escapes the building site (and the cold) to go into work. She takes the dogs with her but unfortunately the route to work is the same as the route to the Forest Rec parkrun, so they get a tad excited.

Frank Turner personally emailed me yesterday to tell me that his 2000th gig will be at Rock City in December and that tickets will be available this morning by way of a ballot. Of course I’m rubbish at ballots and he also tells another 20,000 other people. So obviously I don’t get any tickets.

While I am out at lunch, in the pub naturally, Derby reappoint Steve McClaren. What? Would you take your ex back after she'd ran off with someone richer and more famous than you? Would you hell!

I go dog training and then meet L afterwards for a Wainwright in Masons.
