With Much Fanfare

It’s time for another longish training run, so I again get the bus into work.

Then after work I do the same 14km run. It’s not really about stretching the distance out at this stage, it's more a case of upping my weekly mileage.

I get home to find that Doggo is still have rear end problems and has repainted the kitchen with his diarrhoea. It's not pleasant and quite a clean up operation.

Then we take the scissors to his matted rear end and surprisingly he lets us. He looks a lot trimmer afterwards.

The Robin Hood Marathon announce this year’s race t-shirt with much fanfare but it looks almost exactly the same as last year’s to me... It’s got a bloomin’ dear on it of course, which perhaps looks a tad more like Rudolph this time around.

Tips For Improvements

On the bike again today, only in drier conditions, and then lunchtime is spent in the Brunswick.

It’s dogging in the evening and then on to the Masons to meet L where tonight’s exciting guest beer is Harvest Pale. Ugh. I think I’ll go with the Bass this week.

It’s always late when I arrive at the pub, around 10:45, but I’m extra late this evening as the A516 is blocked by an accident so I have to do a long detour onto the A38 to get around it. Thankfully the pub is still open when I get there, just.

My trainer films MD’s training runs tonight, I assumed because she was impressed by them but that is not quite the case. She emails me the films along with some tips for improvements.

Surprisingly Awake

Surprisingly awake and on the bus as I will attempt to get a training run in this evening. Dangerous things these training runs, it's usually those that injure me and not the races.

This is just going to be a gentle trot to warm up for first ever Huthwaite parkrun. L does like anything inaugural, so I might as well go tick the box as well.

The run doesn’t go that well as my calves are really tight from the start probably due to all the cycling this week but I don’t want to push them in case they snap. So there’s a lot of stopping and stretching.

They do eventually loosen up and I make it as far as Borrowash from where I get the bus to Bramcote Island before 'jogging' home from there. Mission accomplished I suppose as nothing gave way. The parkrun tomorrow may be another story.

Unscathed

Another training run today, this time from my parents’ house at Aston into work. This is about 5.5 miles, it went surprisingly well and I think I came through it unscathed. I just now need to do it again in reverse at 5pm, as that is where the car is parked.

As I run onto Pride Park I am met by, for some reason, a sea of Orienteering controls peppered all over the place. No idea what that’s all about. We ought to have another go at the big O one day.

The nomadic Beechdale-ites confirm to L that the changing rooms at the new pool are bisexual (e.g. mixed). That should make them hurry up in the showers.

L receives the same dodgy email that I had last week. That her application to enter the Olympic Tri at the World Triathlon Round at Leeds next year has been successful. You have to be careful what you sign up for.

I hope she is pre-bragging to her resident Ironwoman, who may have done Ironman UK this year and may be considering Ironman Austria next year but has she swam in Roundhay Park?

I do my second run and then go to the match with my folks. It's another draw. We aren’t exactly playing like Real Madrid yet. Well we are, we knock it around beautifully and have recorded over 60% possession in all our games so far but only in our own penalty area.
