Maybe Fractured, Maybe Not

Both boys are improved and MD is back on the Bonios, he's still not quite 100% though. Doggo has found a solution to his wobbly old legs and now props himself up against the kitchen cupboards while eating. He’ll be after a table and chairs next.

I hobble to the bus, last night’s gym session doesn’t appear to have helped my ankle. Which L says is almost certainly fractured. I'm sure she exaggerates.

There’s no squash as my opponent is still recovering from his Christmas break so I don’t need to tell him that I’m injured.

He’s needs to make a Resolution and join the Januarites in the gym, or perhaps not. I mean, is there any wonder that people don’t stick at it when they decide to get fit at the time of year when the weather is at it’s foulest and which inevitably means they end up with the misery that is the dreadmill.

Now if they made their Resolution to get fit in the spring then they’d have nicer weather and longer days with lighter evenings. So then they could do something outside and they'd perhaps stick at it.

Instead they do it in January and at the same time give up all the other things they enjoy doing, like drinking alcohol and eating chocolate. It’s no wonder people continually vote January as the most depressing month of the year.

Personally it’s one of my favourites along with February and\or March, as these months are when we do most of our best trips away.

Reattaining Fighting Weight

My squash opponent decided that we shouldn’t play last week as he set about reattaining his ‘fighting weight’ after the Christmas break. Although I don’t believe he’d been condemned as overweight by his GP like some of us. Anyhow this week he seems confident of being able to squeeze through the court door, so we have a game on.

He wins the first four of our scheduled five games but I win the last one. He had it coming. I pushed him close in a couple of the others. He’s very disgruntled at losing the last game, so he demands another one which I win as well. 4-2 sounds so much better don’t you think.

Total Bedlam

All these people should not be allowed holiday at the same time, they should have to submit a detailed plan of what they intend to do on their Christmas break first and then get it approved by the rest of us before they are allowed to have extended time off.

I say this because as I head to Sainsbury’s, as I do every Monday lunchtime, it’s still total bedlam on the retail park. I’m sure people are just driving round aimlessly because they are bored. The two shops I go in, Sainsbury’s and Homebase, are both no more busy than usual yet the car parks and roads are chocka. Perhaps they’ve been stuck there since Friday, who knows. Please everyone, just hurry up and s*d off back to work so that we can get back to normal.

My diary for the months ahead looks very bleak. I intend taking the majority, if not all, of January off running so there are no runs in my diary but also no dog shows, no gigs, no sportives, not even an open water swim just a few football matches. L says look on the bright side as this leaves more time to practice my swimming. Oh the joy. Although that is actually how I spend half an hour this evening, in the pool.

I do tentatively pencil in the Alsager 5 in my diary on Sunday 2nd February as an appropriate place to make my running comeback. L describes it as 'that desolate thing we did last year with the crap t-shirt' but this is how low I have sunk.
