A Man In Total Pain

There is no swim this morning as I simply wouldn’t have been capable, so I drive to work and despite struggling with stairs, I’m otherwise fine. I even manage to successfully hobble around Sainsburys to get the shopping.

L thanks me for providing the entertainment over the weekend and says she’s ready for her weekend now. Ah, she doesn’t feel like she’d had a weekend then! No, me neither and it’s quite a few days until the next one. The dogs do seems to have had a weekend and don't seem to mind not going out this morning.

The Half Outlaw photos show me as man in total pain and that was taken before I found out that the partner of our new dog club member, who dabbles herself in swim-bike-run, did it in 5:10. Ouch! He was only that slow because he was taking it easy because it was just part of his training for the Lakesman Ironman in a month’s time. I just hope his photos were equally ugly but somehow I doubt it.

I also hobble off to dog training where there are just the two of us. Thankfully we finished early because we’re both knackered but my training partner didn’t have anywhere near as good an excuse as me.

Resuscitation

I spend my lunchtime hobbling around Sainsbury after yesterday’s half marathon. L is having to use the steps to get in and out of the pool and she didn’t run. Good job she didn’t run.

The Manchester Marathon was also yesterday. L’s friend did it and my physio did it. Brilliant race apparently but the baggage queues were even worse than at Sheffield. Three hour wait apparently! Not good. My body locked up after a fifteen minute wait at Sheffield. I'd need to have to be resuscitated after three hours.

Later I head off for some wet dogging while L heads off for a curry.

Me And My Plus One

L must be improving slightly as she managed a swim this morning, although she did have to get in and out using the steps.

As part of the weekly shop I am tasked with getting tree lights. Personally I think it's a bit early for such things but I acquiesce. Although L has more faith in Sainsburys than me, we’ll probably end up with exactly the same ones as last time.

They certainly haven’t changed their beer selection in the last ten years which means looking for any decent presents there is pointless.

Tonight is the Dog Club’s Christmas meal out and L goes as my plus one. We go to the Chinese across the road from training. The last thing I wanted was another drive out there, the same 40 minute trip I make every week, but it’s a decent enough meal.

New Year Resolutionists

The traffic is horrific and it takes 70 minutes to get to work in the car.

The part of the point of taking the car is that it’s dog training tonight, although I do also get the shopping every Monday. Dogging is called off, so Plan B kicks in. I have the necessary kit with me so I shall swim.

I can see why training is off, it's pretty foul out there, and I just got soaked by a sudden downpour in Sainsburys car park. MD will be gutted, I'm sure he was looking forward to it. Luckily he’s still got a double header on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The pool is packed, as I knew it would be. Full of New Year Resolutionists no doubt. Who’ll all no doubt be doing Dryanuary as well.

I get an email advertising Tryanuary. Now this is more like it!

Make it your mission to seek out new breweries, beers, bars and bottle shops throughout January.

Oh Deer

With all three days of Black Friday over, my inbox is now full of Cyber Monday emails. At least as it’s now the 1st of December so I can now officially start thinking about Christmas but... I think I’ll leave it another week.

I see this fetching attire in Sainsbury’s.

It would be ideal for L when she's running the gauntlet with MD through all the deer on Wollaton Park. I wonder if you can get a matching dog jacket.

Dogging is off again tonight and L’s run in Derby is also cancelled. They are going for a curry instead of a run. No such similar offer was forthcoming from my dogging crew.

So I swim again and my Russian spy is there again. Tonight I’m sure she’s racing me as she matches me stroke for stroke in the next lane even though I know she can swim much faster than me. Women can be such a tease at times. As can the coffee machine, which still isn’t working.
