Under Investigation

I’m on the bike again, 2 of 12 aka 4 of 12, and it’s so much more pleasant with a new wheel and a new tyre on. It’s nice to feel there’s a bit more rubber than there was between the road and me.

Back home it’s another night of Plantagenet plundering, warring of the roses, York v Lancaster etc in the White Queen.

It’s the second week in a row there’s been no Top of the Pops to watch. They won’t show any that are presented by someone ‘under investigation’, which seems to be ruling out quite a few editions at the moment.

The Art Of Lane Sharing

I take the car to work so that I can go for my weekly swim afterwards with fresh legs. I promptly forget my swimming kit and have to go back which freaked the dogs out who were just settling down for a mega kip.

Amazingly at the pool later I get a lane to myself which saves me from the problem L was highlighting this morning. She says that men are a bit all over the place when it comes to lane sharing as they cannot swim in a straight line, meaning she often comes home black and blue after having shared a lane with one. I do agree but I think women are rubbish at swimming straight as well, it’s just don’t hurt as much when you collide with them. Personally I always get tangled up in the line ropes which maims no one but myself and gives everyone a good laugh at the same time.

Back home we opt for a naughty take away although our favoured online service ‘Fill My Belly’ appears to be no more. They have been taken over by ‘Just Eat’ who add a £1 delivery charge and then a 50p credit card charge. So I shop around and use ‘Hungry Horse’ instead who are cheaper because they don’t have the credit card charge. Still I can see the old fashioned traditional ring them up way could be making a comeback.

Then we settle down for some more ‘White Queen’ shenanigans.

Teenage Crush

It’s not only me who’s limping. Doggo refuses to walk this morning, indicating total (temporary) paralysis in one of his paws, and L has to return him home.

For a while he looked longingly at the front door as L and MD departed again without him, doing his best impression of feeling sorry for himself. I console him for a while before departing for work. Out of the kindness of my heart I leave the bedroom door open for him and L is a bit miffed that the patient makes full use of the facilities (the comfy bed). Hence he doesn’t have the courtesy to sit by the front door and pretend he was missing them. At least, I suppose, being able to get on the bed is good sign.

I had considered taking the bike for a spin to work but after last night’s squash match, I think a zimmer might be more appropriate. I limp to the bus.

L lines us up to start watching the ‘White Queen’ tonight, which we recorded many moons ago. First she does me a quick resume of episode one, which I missed but she caught on iplayer.

She’s seems terribly excited by the prospect of all those heavy leather belts, thick woolly tights and long boots... on the men, and by Richard III. Whom she seem to have a teenage crush on, he wears long boots. The nice girls always go for the murdering bastards don’t they, or as she corrects me, misunderstood murdering bastards. He’s a bit young in this one though and not quite into his stride yet.
