Predatory Women

On the bus today as it’s raining yet again. Which means an after work Watt Bike session. Unfortunately my membership has now expired so the decision on whether to sign up permanently is required to be made. I decide to give it a go and sign on the dotted line.

L is in London today for work, protecting her boss from the predatory women he has clinics with. It’s almost worth L staying down there as we’re down in London ourselves from Thursday.

After getting vivid texts depicting her soaked to the skin in the rain and her work files turning to papier mâché I decide I best start deciding which wine to start chilling for later.

Relapse

L is ill but manages a swim before she relapses. I’m not sure she’ll be well enough for a training trot tonight. Snogging is banned, so it seems unlikely. It’s also raining.

In the end, L and the boys stay in while I storm in to a 2-0 lead at squash. Naturally it ends in a 3-2 defeat but I’m happy with that. I was less happy with the racquet around the jaw that I got in game four. I hope the Navigation will let me have a straw with my pint.

We Need New T-shirts

My third day in a row in the car. To be fair I was going to catch the bus but its raining and I didn’t fancy hobbling along in the wet. The hobble is quite bad; my knee has reacted badly to what I put it through on Sunday so I’ve cancelled dog training tonight and squash tomorrow.

The Ramathon too looks like it’s going to take place without me. L will be there though, doing her 13.1 swansong. Thereafter she’s becoming a 10K girl again.

My Dad will look a bit odd in his new t-shirt professing his support for me with me standing at his side. We need new t-shirts.

Research Purposes

I take my best bike to work as the other one is ill. Very nice it was too although it did start raining just as I got into the last mile. Everything seems to be working fine on the bike after its service last week, so now I’m all set for Sunday’s Sportive.

L reports that the Canning Circus Christmas tree is now up. Oh no.

L suggests a Caribbean meal tonight and asks how I’m fixed because she wants me concoct one. I’ll give it a go.

After a bit of investigation we decide to order a Caribbean takeaway instead, purely for research purposes you understand. So that I can see what I’m trying to concoct but then the takeaway closes before I can actually click the 'checkout' button. So we order an Indian instead which isn’t something we need to research but what the hell.

New Recruit

Still raining. I’m on the bus today but obviously that still involves getting wet.

L’s ill, although naturally she won’t admit it.

I’m out in Derby with the guys from my old school tonight. There was supposed to be a new recruit tonight but he cancelled at the last minute, perhaps next time. Although it’s so difficult to co-ordinate three of us, I’m not sure four is even possible.

After a couple in the Brunswick we head into the city centre. In an effort to avoid the Europa Cup Final that one of us (not me) is taping, we have to eschew anywhere that might be showing it. We end up in the Slug and Lettuce, which is not somewhere I’ve been before. Well, not while its been a Slug and Lettuce, I’ve been in it in its half a dozen or so previous incarnations.

They have a few real ales, including a Derby Brewery beer, so that tempts us in but it’s in poor shape. The food menu is fairly interesting and the curry I choose is tasty enough or would have been if it hadn’t been overcooked, probably remicrowaved. Service is slow too, so I don’t think we’ll be rushing back.
