Geeky Spreadsheets

Both L and I have geeky spreadsheets of all the races we’ve done. L has been racing longer than me so she has done a lot more races than me. She has done a massive 542 races in total compared with my meagre 282 but it turns out that, out of my pitiful total, 91 of mine have been half marathons whereas L has only done 88.

She has done 8 marathons though to my 3.I'm still playing catch up there and her enthusiasm for number 9 seems to be waning. .She says her running Mojo appears to have up and left. I’ll have to hide her new hoover and only tell her where it is once she’s done her run or I could lend her our four legged Mojo He'd spur her on.

Instead Monday sees her out on the lash in Borrowash... and she’s out late. It’s almost eight o’clock when she gets on the bus home.

Tuesday turns out to be glorious day for cycling... but for reasons known only to me I don't. Well it was also a bit nippy.

Talking of nippy. L is still eyeing up outdoor swims. Brrr. The latest one to take her fancy is the Jubilee River Swim in Windsor. It’s 10km long with three weirs on the route, which I’m sure they’ll make the swimmers walk around and not go wa-hey over them. Even though L says ‘OMG I hope not!  Doesn't it look great?’ Erm. If she says so. I’ll hold her coat. She claims to have already been hardening herself to the prospect with cold showers at our local pool.

Her latest PT session has her sprinting on a Watt bike. Now that’s more like it.

Fainting In The Gym

I don't bike today as heavy rain has been forecast, so it’s the bus again.

They do turn out to right about the rain and I don’t even manage to get out for a sandwich at lunchtime. I’ll be fainting in the gym if I can get there without drowning because, after slowing to mere heavy drizzle, another downpour arrives at dead on 5pm. I get drenched and its only five minutes away. I have to spin my legs extra fast on the Watt Bike to dry my shoes out.

By the time I’ve done my 15km it’s fine again. So L walks to meet my bus with the boys. Then it's a bonus Friday night, a couple of beers and L cooks.

Meanwhile I’m still trying to digest the phone call I got earlier in the day to say they’ve pulled a body out of the River Trent. Not good news at all.

The Curse Continues

I’m in car purely so that I can nick another computer from work. Naturally its traffic carnage both on the way in and on the way home.

Daughter reports hearing strange rattling noises coming from the closed stair gate whilst she was in the shower this morning followed by padding up the stairs. On further investigation the stair gate is open and both dogs have gone to bed, upstairs. This, we have long suspected, is what happens.

Everyone has to have a break from running, even Ron Hill, and we feel for him.

I have a Watt Bike session in the gym and then take another computer home from work. The machine works but the disk I swapped from the old machine doesn't. The curse continues.

Curled Up Asleep

Daughter joins in the park session this morning means L’s tired us all out this morning. They’ll all be curled up asleep at home while L heads off to Pilates and I have another speedy drive in to work. It’s still far too cold and icy to cycle.

By mid-afternoon, not only is it cold but it’s also really foggy. Definitely not a bike day. Instead I do an impressive 25k on the Watt Bike at the gym.

L goes off to an Aqua Fit class at Harvey Hadden with Daughter followed by a sauna. She really will wear that girl out.

Each To Their Own

We continue to look for events for Sunday 20th November, the weekend when everything is full. We stumble across the Beacon Trail Half Marathon, which looks interesting until I click on it and it tells me it’s full.

We now have new chic black bathmats in our new chic bathroom.

Dogging is off again, so I head off for a quickie in the gym instead. L is jealous. She’s out tonight but says she’d rather be in a gym than a curry house. Oddly I’d rather be in a curry house than in a gym but there you go. Each to their own.

It’s a hard session. It’s a long time since I’ve been on a Watt Bike and my legs keep reminding me of that fact all the way through my 20k. Luckily the steps go downwards out of the gym back to the changing rooms and crawling down is never as embarrassing as crawling up.

When I’ve recovered, the boys and I go to collect L from her enforced curry house.

Non-Negotiable

I take the car to work today and start the process of transferring 450 dog show trophies first from work to home, then home to the showground.

I plan a gym trip after work which will consist of the usual 20k on the Watt Bike. L thinks I should be trying to talk myself out of it but it is scheduled therefore it is non-negotiable. I drive a hard bargain with myself.

She’s goes to the gym where she gets talked into a one-to-one session and then crawls home. I hope she’s saved something for our own planned one-to-one session.

Really Ill

I head to the gym after work where I do 15km on the Watt Bike and then 3k on the dreadmill, just to see how the legs are. Not bad as it happens.

On top of her injuries from running and skiing, L now has a cold. She declares she is too unwell for the gym, so she must be really ill then. Snogging is banned, which doesn’t sound much fun.

After getting the bus home from the gym, I meet her on the park where she is exercising the boys and I have to be content with snogging them rather than her.

Hope she is well enough for the usual Friday night workout.
