Flat Hunting Or Not

We do the 6am morning swim again, which goes well although oddly they only initially open two lanes rather than the usual three and they are rammed. Eventually, when most people have already given up and gone, they open the third.

Last night Derby County sacked Steve McClaren again. Frankly, I’m speechless and it seems utterly ridiculous to me. Although I haven’t yet gotten my head around why they reappointed him in the first place. Actually I’ve still not gotten my head around exactly why they sacked Paul Clement, which was only last February but is now four managers ago. Next up apparently is Gary Rowett.Good luck Gary.

We were all keyed up for a flat viewing with Daughter tonight but that has now been put back to Wednesday. Luckily, this time I made sure to bring my gym kit just in case... I didn’t when the other one was cancelled last week.

So I do a session on the Watt Bike and then get home in time for another viewing which is scheduled for 7:30. However it appears that no one has told the tenant that they need to be there to let us in because they don't show up. Therefore, it’s a wasted journey. This flat hunting business isn’t going well so far.

Facing The Sack?

Day two of the Nottingham dog show at the Newark Showground where my entire morning is spent organising, persuading, cajoling, consoling... and a lot of hanging around. Yes, it’s the Crufts Team Event.

L keeps well out of the way and goes to aquarobics instead but without a towel, she’s always doing that. Secretly she’s such an exhibitionist.

So I have four teams, sixteen team members and we achieve just one clear round between us. Not great. Premiership managers have been sacked for less, much less. Perhaps they’ll sack me?

MD’s team run was decent with just a minor tunnel mishap that I sort of predicted as it was case of me being on his un-favourite side for either the weaves or the following tunnel. I deemed it less catastrophic to mess up the tunnel. Apparently he did all his contacts, at least that what the judge said. I wasn’t so sure but it’s not my opinion that counts. It’s not often that disagreeing with the judge goes in my favour.

He then goes and misses them all in his individual agility run.

In fact we are eliminated in all three of our individual runs today, so no rosettes to take home. Where we then head to spoil L’s peace and because I need a beer or two.

We head to the Lincolnshire Poacher for a couple and then the Golden Fleece for a few more, clocking up a few dark ones on the way. Then it’s the usual takeaway from the Park Tandoori.

Sacked

The old war wound knee injury is playing up a touch this morning after yesterday’s mammoth bike event. I don’t know how L managed her swim this morning.

Swimming apparently wasn’t a problem, although walking was. She can't move her left knee and has a limp, which she’s quite proud of.

Monday dog class restarts this week, so my Monday swims will have to move night but I can’t go tonight, even if my legs could manage it, as I have a committee meeting. Hopefully this won’t be a long one as two of the most argumentative ones have already ducked out.

After their drubbing by Derby on Saturday, Billy Davies is sacked by Nottingham Forest. Shame.

Understudies Eat Crumble Too

Today a dog show on Southwell Racecourse. Doggo does his only run first thing, he's clear but as usual doesn’t get a rosette for it.

MD’s first run was really good until he messed up his weaves. While his second run was scrappy throughout but was clear. Which is the way it always seems to go. So we’ll probably get a rosette for the second run but it won’t be a highly placed one. We come 12th.

His afternoon runs are also all good but not quite good enough and all have small errors in them including another cock up in the weaves.

My ankle is not as good as yesterday (before my training run) but it’s not too bad. The uneven ground at the racecourse isn’t helping and it’s also a bloody long way to walk from rings 1 to 8 with them placed end to end rather than in a square as normal. No one else is muttering about that though, so perhaps it’s just because I’m injured.

While there I get MD a new bed. I hate it but L will love it. It’s got hearts on it. The beds MD and I preferred had a skull and crossbones on them but weren’t available in the correct size. It looks well comfy though, so MD will put up with it. It also looks well shaggable so Doggo will like it too.

Meanwhile Derby County are busy losing the local derby at Nottingham Forest 1-0. Hardly a surprising result but it has the surprising effect of getting Nigel Clough the sack. Wasn’t expecting that but YES, about time.

Back home I take L to the new Specialized bike shop in Basford. The Specialized Dolce seems to take her eye more than the Scott Contessa we’d been eyeing up at Evans Cycles. So we decide we’re going to order the Dolce through the insurance.

We stay in with pasta and pudding, topping up my energy for tomorrow’s 13 mile hobble. L insists that my attempt to limp around Nottingham tomorrow is a good reason to have pudding, so she does a crumble. I assumed that was just me, as she’s not doing racing but no, apparently understudies eat crumble too.

You Have To Laugh

Billy D gets the bullet from Forest. You have to laugh. I think we all saw it coming but it’s still funny. Billy just doesn’t get on with chairmen particularly if they're called Nigel Doughty. No doubt another club will be lining him up to see if theirs can do any better. Guys, save your money.

L’s out tonight, running with friends. Which always seems to get organised for the day after a hard race. Apparently they bump into some ‘hashers’. A drinking club with a running problem. They sound like a ‘sane’ bunch, they have ‘hares’, I assume that’s the run leader, called ‘Shagulator’, ‘Butt Plug’, ‘Rectal Probe’ and ‘Andean Sex Beast’ among others. Is she sure running is the only problem they’ve got?

I’m not dog training tonight. I have committee meeting instead and some good arguments hopefully. I'll take that back. After tonight’s meeting I could really strangle somebody.
