Me And My Plus One

L must be improving slightly as she managed a swim this morning, although she did have to get in and out using the steps.

As part of the weekly shop I am tasked with getting tree lights. Personally I think it's a bit early for such things but I acquiesce. Although L has more faith in Sainsburys than me, we’ll probably end up with exactly the same ones as last time.

They certainly haven’t changed their beer selection in the last ten years which means looking for any decent presents there is pointless.

Tonight is the Dog Club’s Christmas meal out and L goes as my plus one. We go to the Chinese across the road from training. The last thing I wanted was another drive out there, the same 40 minute trip I make every week, but it’s a decent enough meal.

What More Could A Girl Want?

The dogs’ turds better and I've been to the gym, what more could a girl want.

The report on L's morning arrives.

What more could a girl want? Well...

I’m out with my old school colleague tonight, just the one as the other two don’t show up. As usual we have a few in the Brunswick and then adjourn to the Babington Wetherspoons for food. I’m not a fan of Wetherspoons but it was preferred to the all you can eat Chinese which was also on offer.

L sends me a garbled text, which I think says she and the boys are going to walk up to meet me from the bus. Unfortunately she really isn’t getting on with her new touchscreen phone.

Ravaged By An Earthquake

This morning at 5.20am we are ravaged by an earthquake. Doggo and I are awake but do not know why. Half an hour later Doggo vomits on the carpet. Delayed reaction perhaps. It didn't wake L or MD obviously.

I take the bus for the fourth day in the row. This is worse than my gym habit.

Apparently we have had the “worst snow for 30 years” but then they say that every year. It’s true that it isn’t very good snow and we only have a light dusting of it here, an inch or so. It has also covered up the icy patches making walking a lot easier but to call it the worst for 30 years is a bit harsh on the snow. Naturally everywhere is in total chaos.

This is brilliant. A software developer has apparently outsourced his work to China at a cheaper rate, pocketed the difference and then spent all day on the internet, surfing sites like Reddit.

I had to go on Reddit because I didn’t know what it was. Anyone who can find it interesting for more than five minutes has my admiration, it’s just a jumbled mess of pointless trivia. You could spend your life on that desperately trying to find something of interest. Actually, I think I’d rather do some work. Well after I’ve finished checking out the Chinese small ads.

It has to be said his employer seemed to get a good deal out of it, so I wonder if after sacking him, was his replacement as good?

After two days at the gym and then squash, my legs decide that today is a rest day.

Frazzled Friday?

Despite being early for one of the two buses, I miss it. It was earlier than I was and I watched it pulling off as I walked up. So I had to wait half an hour for the next one. At least it had stopped raining by the time I reached Derby.

L’s back at work to be greeted by the burglar alarm going off and a tradesman claiming to have the wrong code. There’s nothing so exciting at my place, even if it is Frazzled Friday, well, according to the Daily Mail. Something about today being the day the overindulging comes home to roost.

I do actually have a tub of Quality Street here all to myself to overindulge on but I can’t manage it. I just don’t really like milk chocolates. Now if they’d been plain...

Daughter goes back to Sheffield today, so we give her a lift. All of us, the dogs and even Son. We make an evening of it. We had contemplated a Chinese takeaway at her place but thinking of her house, it might be warmer to eat out... We hit what appears to be the food Mecca of Sheffield, albeit a slightly sleazy one, the London Road area.

I have an evil hot Chinese, which reminds me of the one I had two New Years Eve’s ago. Son has an evil massive Chinese, while L and Daughter have very long winded hot pots. Son has finished, well kind of, it was unfinishable due to its size, before the girls’ meals even arrive.
