Acceptable After All

It seems that my mid-week run with Daughter was acceptable after all. MD and I have been recruited again, this time to pace her around Saturday’s parkrun at Forest Rec. L has admitted defeat on the injury front and will spectate again, still stranded on 99.

Daughter has however, apparently, offered to help L train for the Derby 10K next year. Once she is fit again of course. What is the world coming to? Strange things are certainly afoot.

It’s a normal Friday night in tonight, that is as in no massages. At least not from the professionals.

Not A Running Injury

On the bike again and still with a bike computer that doesn’t like mornings. I really must get some new batteries for it as it’s still only working on the way home from work but not on the way there.

Our lunchtime pub trip is cancelled due to my colleague’s injury. He wasn’t even running, he fell down a slope while out walking on holiday last week. So he hasn’t even got a medal and a t-shirt to show off.

Rattle Unrattled

Apparently the two new tramlines in Nottingham have started running today WITH passengers after months of ghosting around empty.

L is having her latest injury diagnosed by her GP, the verdict is a trapped femoral nerve or something or other. I'll google it but whatever it is I’m jealous of yet another eclectic injury.

The car is back in the garage hopefully finally getting its rattle unrattled. It’s having a new timing belt fitted which will hopefully cure it.

I partake in possibly my last ever swim at John Carroll with the new Olympic Pool opening next week. I do 50 lengths which is enough so close to Saturday’s Vitruvian.

Dog Shaped Alarm Clock

As usual the dog shaped alarm clock goes off at just before 6am and starts licking any bit of flesh it can get its tongue on. I probably should say I like his style but I don’t. It can also be a right passion wrecker in the mornings.

I’m tapering on the bus. I consider a lunchtime run but don’t risk it. I’ve also managed to keep out of the pub at lunchtime and I haven’t heard from my squash/tennis opponent. So that’s another possible injury opportunity avoided.

L is stressed, and her event is only a piddly little tri or perhaps that not why she’s stressed. As ever I am happy to de-stress her by whatever means are necessary. So we bring forward Friday and challenge Doggo to wreck it.

He doesn’t. I cut the lawn first and that means he’s so knackered after trying to wreck that, that he can barely make it up the stairs.

An Easier Game

I manage a pub lunch this week, so my squash opponent should be in for an easier game tonight. I wouldn’t want to give him too much of an advantage, so I haven’t come on the bike today.

In the pub, the beer is ok but they’ve changed the food menu and replaced all the hot baguettes with toasties... not the same. We changed to this pub for the better range of food. Clearly no one wants us.

I lose 1-3 at squash but I’m definitely feeling a lot fitter and we have some massively long rallys. Fitter than I have done since the start of the current bout of injuries back in September. Must be the cycling that’s done it.

If It’s Not One Injury It’s Another

If it’s not one injury it’s another. I have my knee, my ankle or my calf, depending on which way the wind is blowing but always one of them. L has... well I’m not sure exactly but plenty of them. Including this morning her knee, which MD headbutted as L reached outside the front door for the milk while MD simultaneously reached out for a passing cat and crash went a bottle of orange juice. I shall be thinking of MD when I’m not having my morning orange juice this weekend.

Luckily MD’s head is made of reinforced steel, doubt he felt a thing, not so L’s knee.

I bike again, do the A52 again and I’m still here to tell the tale. I also just made it before the rain started. Perhaps my luck is changing. Then I get deluged on the way home, so clearly it isn’t.

Today I am finally allowed to ring the post office to officially report my package as missing. Apparently this only instigates another search for it, then they will send me a letter saying if they’ve found it... or not.
