A Blessing In Disguise

I’m forced onto the bus by a lack of a bike, although this might be a blessing in disguise as regards saving my legs for squash tonight.

L is so jealous of my Vitruvian Triathlon hoodie that she’s been contemplating entering next year’s event. Well, entries are now open...

The stress of whether to enter or not is bad enough. I’d hate to think what the stress would be like if she actually did enter.

In the end (well, at the moment) she’s decided to not do so and to work her way up to it, perhaps with 2017 in mind, by doing one half marathon and one sportive a month. Oh the stress...

The patient is still in the repair shop, they haven’t got the wheel in yet. So I am back on the trusty Red Arrow again and will have to pick the bike up tomorrow instead.

Squash is interesting and is nicely poised at 2-1 to him with me leading in the 4th when his back goes and we have to abort.

Dog Shaped Alarm Clock

As usual the dog shaped alarm clock goes off at just before 6am and starts licking any bit of flesh it can get its tongue on. I probably should say I like his style but I don’t. It can also be a right passion wrecker in the mornings.

I’m tapering on the bus. I consider a lunchtime run but don’t risk it. I’ve also managed to keep out of the pub at lunchtime and I haven’t heard from my squash/tennis opponent. So that’s another possible injury opportunity avoided.

L is stressed, and her event is only a piddly little tri or perhaps that not why she’s stressed. As ever I am happy to de-stress her by whatever means are necessary. So we bring forward Friday and challenge Doggo to wreck it.

He doesn’t. I cut the lawn first and that means he’s so knackered after trying to wreck that, that he can barely make it up the stairs.

An Example To Us All

Doggo is slowly adjusting to life upstairs, very slowly. The incidents of him shagging MD’s bedding seem to have increased fourfold. Which I think he does when he’s stressed. L suggests he should just raid the fridge like a normal person would. I’ve never done that personally, much be a girl thing. Personally I don’t think there’s anything wrong with shagging away your stresses, perhaps the world would be a better place if everyone did that? That dog could be an example to us all.

I run home from Stapleford, a distance of around 4 miles. L meanwhile is undertaking some Tour de Yorkshire training and doing a spin class. Having been at the hairdresser’s this morning, if her red hair dye runs they may think she’s sweating blood. Which would look highly impressive.

Chocolate Is Not The Answer

L is stressed and apparently chocolate is the only answer. Chocolate is not the answer and I’m sure she knows it. I tell her to take her stress out on the pool later.

Finally, our ‘we turn them around in a week’ Russian Visas arrive, three weeks after we applied for them but at least we have them now. So they're letting us in. My Mum won't be happy about that, she’s sure we’re going to get kidnapped whilst we’re there. She might be right. If she’s is, I’ll be expecting a refund on the Visas, they were bloody expensive.

Up at Ponds Forge I swim 1500m which is a decent workout despite a tight calf and cramp...

We meet Daughter afterwards. She is stressing about her master’s application. A stress shared is a stress doubled as they say but I think it was a productive discussion. She works well under stress... I think.
