Dog Shaped Alarm Clock

As usual the dog shaped alarm clock goes off at just before 6am and starts licking any bit of flesh it can get its tongue on. I probably should say I like his style but I don’t. It can also be a right passion wrecker in the mornings.

I’m tapering on the bus. I consider a lunchtime run but don’t risk it. I’ve also managed to keep out of the pub at lunchtime and I haven’t heard from my squash/tennis opponent. So that’s another possible injury opportunity avoided.

L is stressed, and her event is only a piddly little tri or perhaps that not why she’s stressed. As ever I am happy to de-stress her by whatever means are necessary. So we bring forward Friday and challenge Doggo to wreck it.

He doesn’t. I cut the lawn first and that means he’s so knackered after trying to wreck that, that he can barely make it up the stairs.

Never Mind The Cheese

My final pre-event bike to work today. I will then taper a bit more properly for the rest of the week, maybe. Well, I'll try to.

L is in London, working down Harley Street and having the usual fun on the trains getting there. She isn’t tapering except when being in London forces her to. She claims that her event is only a piddly little tri. The same piddly little tri is also a qualifier for ITU Sprint Distance World Championships and ETU Sprint Distance European Championships by way. So it’ll be piddly, little and full of very very quick people.

In the evening, we’re at dog training and another solid training session from MD. More solid that my triathlon training, that’s for sure.

L has gone to bed when we get home ‘to stop the cheese calling to me from the fridge’. Never mind the cheese, she needs to beware the chocolate lurking in my bedside cabinet.

Flailing Fins

Having turned down my running overtures, L announces that she wants to start some... speed work. I’m always available.

I go to the pool, as a late-ish training session for Sunday’s half ironman. Naturally it’s packed and I have to share a lane with a couple of girlies (not too painful) and flipper man (which is painful if he catches you with a flailing fin). I swim 70 lengths without getting too much cramp and only one flipper bruise, which is a result.

Steve McClaren is gone from Derby. I’m not particularly happy about another managerial change as I think we can now right off next season as the new chap beds in but the philandering McClaren has no one to blame but himself for flirting embarrassingly with Newcastle United. That’ll end in tears. Anything involving Newcastle always does.

Lazy-ish Day

A Bank Holiday lie in today and generally a lazy day. I had kept the diary free in case a trip to the play off final was required but clearly that didn’t happen.

Instead the boys get a rare visit to the park and L heads off into town to spend all her birthday vouchers, also probably to get out of the run I keep proposing for her.

I’d even told her she could sniff, wee and lurch at as many things as she wants. I don't let Doggo get away with that much.
