That Extra Touch Of Luxury

On the bike today, after I've walked Doggo. L walks MD, and while our walk is tranquil theirs is disrupted by two cats and two imaginary dogs. Although, if they were imaginary, then I’m not sure how L knew they were dogs?

Doggo then eats most of his breakfast despite having cheese and pate last night. He now also gets his duvet laid out in the hall for him for that extra touch of luxury while we’re at work.

Despite, as always, telling me not to get her anything L sends through her Christmas  wishlist. Previously, just myself under the tree had been fine. Not that we have a tree. Now it turns out that I am allowed to get her some more of what she already has plenty of, e.g. books and boots. As it’s Christmas, I will oblige and the boots are just as much a present for me anyway.

Dog training tonight and L is at her folks'. Afterwards in the Masons it’s the same old beer, so no Christmas cheer there then.

Black Fortnight Comes To An End (Maybe)

I think I’m officially a wimp. It’s a little cold, so I’m on the bus when I should be powering it in to work on my bike in readiness for Sunday’s track session but I don’t want to suck in cold air. Yep, wimp. Penance later in the gym then.

L is getting soft with the old man, Doggo, and has left him his duvet (yes, he has his own duvet) down in the hall. Although we both expect to find it shoved in a corner and him lying on the floor next to it when we get home.

I walk to the sandwich shop at lunchtime and at first I’m surprised to find that the traffic everywhere is gridlocked. Then I realise it’s Black Friday and people are queuing up to get ripped off.

They call it Black Friday but I’ve been deleting Black Friday emails for the past Black Fortnight. As soon as I delete one from my inbox another one appears. It’s crazy. I haven’t opened any of them.

I do get one email today that I care about, from Glencoe Mountain where they say heavy snow is falling at all levels and more snow is forecast over the next few days. Wow.  Let's go!

Tasty Delights

Both L and I now have one armed t-shirts. Our termite dog strikes again.

I’m not sure if this was an afterthought after he ate the duvet cover or part of the same operation. I go to Sainsbury’s and buy a new one. L promises to strangle him with the old one but I’m sure she doesn’t mean it.

Google says that dogs eat your clothes through boredom and anxiety. Although I don’t think normal rules tend to apply to Doggo.

Dogging is on this evening for the first time this year which drags Doggo away from the tasty delights of the laundry basket and also gets MD some much needed training.

Dog Trouble

We have dog trouble. He still hasn’t raided the fridge but Doggo is stressed. He is finding the wooden stairs to the bedroom a touch slippery.

Plan A

We start looking at some stair treds e.g. bits of carpet to ease his path.

He also can’t get on the bed...

Plan B

Perhaps not...  not sure we would persuade him to use that.

Plan C

Not sure that he’ll get his head around that either.

We'll shove a plank against the bed later and see if he walks up it. Perhaps he’ll think he’s back doing agility and it's the dog walk.

We also put the duvet from the old bed on the floor for him. I suspected he’ll purposely avoid lying on it or he’d hump it but the optimist in us says that he will find it familiar and will sleep on it.

I’m out with old school friends in Derby tonight which gives Doggo the excuse to hang out by the front door waiting for me.  When I get home and escort him upstairs he lies down on his duvet. Result.

Squash Club Night Out

L is now officially ill with a full blown cold.

The carpet man braves the germs to measure us up for carpet in our new bedroom. We are ordering the same dog proof carpet that we had put down in the lounge because it has proven to be as dog proof as they promised. We still need to pop back to Beeston to choose the colour. Last time we had Associated Weavers' Temptation in pastel beige, which sounds almost erotic.

L stays off work and upsets the dogs’ sleep patterns. Well one of the dogs’ sleep patterns, Doggo is just pleased to have access to the bedroom so he can curl up on the duvet.

L declares herself fit enough to attend the annual Squash club meal out, which is tonight. We have booked a table for four, that’s opponent and me with our plus ones, at the Jewel. Which is a new posh Indian restaurant that has replaced the much loved Globe pub on London Road. I’m not sure it’ll be there long as it’s always empty and we’re the only ones in tonight. The food is good though and they honour a 25% discount for online booking even though their online booking isn’t working.

I manage to eat despite pulling a muscle in my side during the game. Yes, another injury. That happened at 1-0 down but with me in the lead in game two. Somehow I managed to hang on to level at 1-1 but the rest of the match was very one-sided after that as I could barely left my arm.
