Perfect Sense

On the bike today while L rushes off to Manchester. I’m owed sex apparently which is obviously the best kind of debt to be owed. I really must update the Standing Order or perhaps consider starting a Direct Debit.

My colleague and I try to get lunch in the Brunswick but it is rammed and they are not taking any food orders that haven’t been pre-booked. I do love the way they don’t look after their regulars. The backup option, and always a very poor one, is the Waterfall. Their only beer is very poor quality Doom Bar, which is a very poor ale anyway even before they get their hands on it. Lunch is a toasted sandwich.

L rubs it in my texting from Manchester where she is having lunch with Daughter and drinking Lees Christmas Plum Porter.

Birmingham City sack Gary Rowett, the best manager they’ve had in a very long time and who currently has them one point outside the play off zone. Makes perfect sense. At least that’s one less rival for promotion that we have to worry.

Then it’s dogging but, as L is in Manchester, it’s dogging without a beer at the end of it.

Dog Narnia

So the bathroom is now finished but we still can’t really use it due to the blocked drains. I ring around a few people and find someone to come out tomorrow to sort it.

The dogs were a bit confused that they were back in the hall today and a bit miffed too. MD really does like that bed in the front room and Doggo really rather likes the wardrobe. It does look rather nice with his (our) bedding in it. It makes you wonder if there's Dog Narnia at the back of it.

On the bike at last and it was very good, once I remembered what to do. When you have a few days off any pleasurable pursuit its always great fun learning the ropes all over again.

L sends me a link to a new charity calendar from the paddleboarding team at Colwick Lake because we know one of the girls in it. L runs with her occasionally and I met her at the Thunder Run. I vaguely recognise her although she usually has her clothes on.

This reminds me of my own photo shoot, which I’d forgot to tell L about. I will also be featuring in a 2017 calendar. As L correctly surmises there are dogs involved and although MD may be naked, I’m not.

Just as I’m leaving work L messages to say that the new bathroom cupboard is full of water. Ah.

Bathroom Project Day 8 (Progress Report)

So it’s day 8 of the Bathroom Project Day and time for a Progress Report. There is no progress, we have no plumber.

Apparently his van wouldn’t start this morning and he’s getting it looked at. Either that or he just fancied a lie-in.

L can no longer skive off work any longer to babysit our non-plumber so she heads into work. If he turns up I’ll nip over to let him in but I’m not sure we’ll see him today.

I have the car but I don’t do the shopping as I usually do on a Monday just in case our illusive plumber rings requesting access to the house but of course he doesn’t.

Meanwhile L has to deal with another of those tricky questions about sex. This time on the UK organ donation scheme.

Are you Male, Female, Transgender, Other or Prefer not to say?

There's no mention of non-binary and they will be so offended by being labelled as ‘Other’. A survey I had the other day listed ‘Intersex’ as an option. It appears the possibilities are now endless.

We have both dogs at the vets tonight, so I have to enlist L’s help. MD is back for part two of the new ‘improved’ vaccine known as Lepto 4. While we opt to keep Doggo on the old single dose Lepto 2 vaccine. Possibly because he’s older and he’s survived this long on the old one but also I really really cannot be bothered to come back again.

The vet also tells us Doggo has a slight heart murmur and dodgy knees. Welcome to old age mate. He’s still up for a damn good bark at dog training though.

Non Binary

The dogs had to cope with the trauma of going back to the old system this morning. Doggo seemed to cope ok but MD looked a bit shocked. He’s got so used to having L and the ball chucker to himself.

The local council seem to be bombarding me with survey recently, mostly mundane stuff but I was kind of intrigued by question 8.

8. What is your gender?
- Male
- Female
- Non Binary
- Other (please specify)

Hmmm. I’d heard that being ‘non-binary’ was all the rage at the moment but that’s the first time I’d seen it on a survey. However the intriguing thing is, if non-binary is effectively ‘neither’ or’ both’ then what comes under ‘other’?

Daughter comes over to Nottingham again, ahead of her interview in London tomorrow. L collects her from the train station as I’m out on the razz.

I’m out with the old school chums and as usual we meet up in the Brunswick. Tonight however the debate about where to go next for food is redundant as the Brunswick are now doing food until 8pm. Sorted. We stay there all evening. The thing is I’d already been in there for a pub lunch earlier, if I’m not careful they’ll think I’m moving in.
