Doughnuts And Wine

We are heading to the Lake District tonight for the weekend and our preparations have raised the dogs’ suspicions. They know something's going on, so they were waiting at the door packed and ready to go this morning when usually they’d be slumped on their bedding as we leave for work. We can’t get much past that pair.

L has a boozy lunch, because of a leaving do, so I guess I’m driving us north tonight. Then again I usually do.

The media is once again split over what is the healthiest fare for such a lunch. Is a glass of wine or a doughnut healthier for you? Calorie wise they are equal, that is if you compare a large glass of wine with a small doughnut. If going by weight, the doughnut has three times as many. Then of course you’d have to eat half a bag of sugar, a tub of lard and a good dose from the salt cellar to get the other health ‘benefits’.

We arrive in Langdale, throw up the tent and hit the Old Dungeon Ghyll. We skip the wine and the doughnuts and go straight for the Old Peculiar naturally.

About Time Too

My spies tell me that the star has gone up on the Canning Circus Christmas tree this morning. About time too. It'll soon be Christmas.

Squash is inadvertently cancelled tonight. It appears that last week they booked us into Monday by mistake. The girl who did the booking did look completely befuddled by their new computer system. As we are actually at the leisure centre when they inform us of this news we are at a bit of a loss what to do instead. They reel off a list of possible replacements none of which looks a goer. We don’t have our yoga mats with us for a start. So it’s an early trip to the pub then.

L is running up to meet us after our game but now she’ll just be in time to buy the second round.

Earthquake

I didn’t feel the earth move but I did hear a loud crash last night. It turned out to be a Tesco delivery man across the road dropping his box of groceries. Perhaps it was the earthquake which made him do that.

We head off to the pub at lunch because it’s Friday or at least it is for my colleague. He’s currently working his three days Monday to Wednesday and we actually got food at the Brunswick. Which is a good job as we’ve just about run out of backup options.

L says I’ll be wobbling around the weaves tonight. I hope I’m not that drunk, it’s MD’s job to be bobbing in and out of the weaves not mine. That would be really embarrassing.

Derby draw Chelsea in quarter finals of the League Cup, at home. Will look forward to that.
